Product Description

The Electro-Hydraulic Grab is a self-propelled, self-closing clamshell grab with an integrated electrically driven hydraulic power pack. This design provides complete independence from the crane's hydraulic system, requiring no external hydraulic connections. The grab is controlled via wireless remote control, making it ideal for crane vessels, RoRo ships, and port facilities.

Construction: The grab frame is constructed from high-strength S460 or S500 steel, while the shells are made from wear-resistant Hardox 400 or Hardox 500 steel. The design has been validated through FEA analysis according to European standards for maximum reliability.

Electric Motor: The integrated electric motor operates on 230V or 400V AC power at 50/60 Hz with power ratings from 7.5 to 37 kW depending on grab size. The motor is rated IP65 for protection against dust and water jets, making it suitable for maritime environments.

Hydraulic System: The compact, integrated hydraulic power pack is designed for continuous use in maritime applications. All hydraulic components are contained within a protected housing, minimizing exposure to the elements and reducing maintenance requirements.

Capacity & Weight: Available in capacities from 0.5 to 30 cubic meters with machine weights ranging from 8 to 80 tons. Each grab is custom-designed for the specific material, crane capacity, and application.

Applications

Electro-hydraulic grabs are ideal for maritime applications where crane hydraulic connections are impractical

Crane Ships

Perfect for loading and unloading without requiring the ship's own hydraulic system.

RoRo Vessels

Ideal for use with mobile harbor cranes on roll-on/roll-off ships.

Port Terminals

Efficient handling of coal, grain, ores, and other bulk materials in port facilities.

Offshore Platforms

Supply operations on offshore platforms with saltwater-resistant construction.

Inland Waterways

Loading and unloading inland ships at ports and terminals without hydraulic connections.

Mobile Cranes

Portal cranes and harbor cranes without requiring hydraulic connection to the crane.

FEA Structural Analysis

Every electro-hydraulic grab is validated through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure maximum safety and performance in your specific application.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an electro-hydraulic grab?

An electro-hydraulic grab is a self-contained clamshell grab with an integrated electric motor and hydraulic power pack. It operates via wireless remote control and requires no hydraulic connection to the crane, making it ideal for crane ships, RoRo vessels, and mobile cranes.

What are the ideal applications for an electro-hydraulic grab?

Electro-hydraulic grabs are perfect for crane ships, RoRo vessels, offshore platforms, port terminals, and mobile harbor cranes where establishing hydraulic connections is impractical. They excel in maritime environments handling bulk materials like coal, grain, ores, and general cargo.

What voltages are available for the electric motor?

Standard options are 230V or 400V AC at 50/60 Hz with power ratings from 7.5 to 37 kW depending on grab capacity. The motor is IP65 rated for protection against dust and water jets. Special voltages can be provided for specific applications or regions.

What are the advantages of an electro-hydraulic grab over a regular hydraulic grab?

Electro-hydraulic grabs provide complete independence from the crane's hydraulic system, eliminating the need for hydraulic hoses and connections. This makes installation easier, reduces maintenance of hydraulic lines, and provides maximum flexibility for crane ships and mobile cranes without onboard hydraulics.

What maintenance is required for an electro-hydraulic grab?

Maintenance is minimal thanks to the protected hydraulic system and IP65-rated electrical components. Regular inspection of hydraulic fluid levels, electrical connections, and structural components is recommended. The modular design ensures easy access to all serviceable parts, reducing downtime.
